JC Wilt Infectious Diseases Research Centre
The JC Wilt Infectious Diseases Research Centre is an enhanced Level II Laboratory for use by the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC).
The Norway House Cree Nation Hospital project is a new 100,000 square foot hospital built in Northern Manitoba. It is a fully featured health care facility with birthing rooms, dialysis, a future surgical suite, inpatient/outpatient care, radiology lab, ambulance bays, as well as community outreach spaces. It is a single-story conventional steel build with a composite main floor, as well as a structural glulam main entrance feature. Mechanical/Electrical systems are typical of hospitals including dual fuel boilers, glycol heating and cooling systems, medical gas, and nurse call and code systems.
Wescan’s scope of work included all mechanical, electrical and structural systems. Although BIM was not a contractual requirement, Wescan endeavored to create a complete 3D model of the entire facility in order to coordinate and facilitate the installation of the mechanical electrical systems. This included pre-fabricating headwalls in cooperation with the steel stud trade, as well as shipping and installing over 1180 pre-fabricated ‘work packages’ based on modeled M&E systems.
