Norway House Hospital

Wescan was awarded the Mechanical, Electrical & Structural Steel on a new build of the 100,000 square foot health care facility in Norway House Cree Nation.

The Norway House Cree Nation Hospital is a fully featured health care facility with birthing rooms, dialysis, a future surgical suite, inpatient/outpatient care, radiology lab, ambulance bays as well as community outreach space. It is a single story conventional steel build with composite main floor as well as a structural glulam main entrance feature. Mechanical/Electrical systems are typical of hospitals including duel fuel boilers, glycol heating and cooling systems, medical gas, nurse call and code systems.

Wescan’s scope of work included all mechanical, electrical and structural systems. Although, BIM was not a contractual requirement; Wescan endeavored to create a complete 3D model of the entire facility in order to coordinate and facilitate the installation of the mechanical and electrical systems. This included prefabricating headwalls in cooperation with the steel stud trade as well as shipping and installing over 1180 prefabricated ‘work packages’ based on modeled M&E systems.

SCOPE OF WORK
  • Domestic Water
  • Sanitary/Rain Water Piping Systems
  • Medical Gas System and Plant
  • Dual Fuel Boilers/Glycol
  • HVAC equipment and Ventilation Systems
  • HeadWalls
